Get outside of it and into something new!
I tend to be a creature of habit (currently working on being more adventurous!) but when I find something that I love, it can be hard to stray from it. Sometimes I can be hard on myself for this trait, but at other times, I feel it can also be a strength. All things in balance, right? Being consistent and a creature of habit can yield excellent rewards in your life, but it is also important to be willing to try new things, step outside of your comfort zone, and live with a taste for adventure. That’s what I love about this look; it combines both of these elements for myself. The first time I ever tried on a cape, I was very unsure – it was different, from what I normally wore and definitely out of my comfort zone. But I just loved something about the way it looked, so I bought it (and wore it alllll the time). Now, several years down the road, capes are one of the pieces that I habitually look forward to wearing in the colder seasons. Funny how that happens in life, even when it comes to your wardrobe!
When I went into local shop Vinnie Louise and saw this cape, I couldn’t wait to try it on! I put it over this awesome mock turtleneck (which you might’ve seen in last week’s post – the BEST piece for layering, is it not?) and paired the distressed jeans to add a little edge. This felt chic and put together, but still so comfortable and relaxed. If I can check both of those features off of my outfit’s checklist, I consider it a home run.
So here’s to adventure, pushing yourself, and celebrating the little things – even if it’s as simple as trying on something new!
